The template problem

Downloaded CPPs fail Principal Designer review for three reasons.

01 · Wrong hazards

A template lists generic construction hazards. Your PD wants the ones on your site — the neighbouring school, the buried services, the party wall, the deliveries down a single-track lane.

02 · Wrong arrangements

Templates don't know your programme, your subcontractors, your welfare set-up, or your emergency plan. The Regs require specifics. Blanks and boilerplate don't count.

03 · Wrong version

Many circulating templates still reference CDM 2007 or cite guidance that's been withdrawn. Reviewers spot it immediately and it undermines everything else in the plan.

It's a small domestic notifiable job — is £495 really the price?

Yes. Small notifiable projects still need a proper CPP; the fee reflects the size and complexity of the job, not a corporate minimum.

Can you write our RAMS and Pre-Construction Info too?

Yes. Ask for a bundled quote at instruction — it's usually cheaper than commissioning each separately.
