Ashdown Safety builds tender-ready ISO 14001 documentation for UK manufacturers, contractors and suppliers facing environmental and sustainability requirements in procurement. Chartered-led, fixed-price from £6,000, and delivered in weeks — ready for your certification audit.
Why ISO 14001
Environmental accreditation is now a line item in public and private procurement.
ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems. Increasingly it is the box a buyer needs ticked before your bid scores — especially in public sector, framework and sustainability-led procurement.
01 · The trigger
Procurement wants it in writing
Public-sector tenders, framework agreements and larger private buyers increasingly score or require ISO 14001 as evidence of credible environmental management. No certificate, lost marks.
02 · The gap
Aspects & impacts, unmapped
ISO 14001 turns on knowing your environmental aspects and impacts, your legal obligations and your objectives. Most firms manage waste and energy informally — the standard wants it evidenced and controlled.
03 · The trap
Green templates don't pass
A generic environmental manual doesn't reflect your operations, your emissions or your site. A UKAS-accredited assessor expects a system that matches what you actually do.

Common questions
ISO 14001, answered straight.
What is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is the international standard for environmental management systems. It gives organisations a framework to identify their environmental aspects and impacts, meet their legal obligations, set objectives and continually improve environmental performance. Certification is awarded by an independent certification body and is widely used as evidence of credible environmental management in tenders.
How much does ISO 14001 cost in the UK?
Ashdown Safety documents an ISO 14001 management system for a fixed £6,000, covering the full documentation set ready for your certification audit. The separate certification-body assessment fee is paid to the certification body and depends on your size.
How long does ISO 14001 take?
We deliver the documentation in weeks rather than the several months typically quoted by larger consultancies. The exact timescale depends on your sites, the complexity of your environmental impacts and your starting position, confirmed at the kick-off call.
What are environmental aspects and impacts?
An environmental aspect is an element of your activities that interacts with the environment — energy use, waste, emissions, discharges. The impact is the resulting effect. ISO 14001 requires you to identify your significant aspects and control them, which is one of the first things we build with you.
Is ISO 14001 the same as being carbon neutral or net zero?
No. ISO 14001 is about managing and improving your environmental performance through a controlled system; it is not a carbon-neutral or net-zero certification. However, a working ISO 14001 system gives you the data and structure that make carbon and net-zero reporting far easier.
Do you help with the certification audit?
Yes. Every package is prepared so a UKAS-accredited assessor sees the documentation the way they expect. On-site attendance at the certification audit and post-audit corrective-action support are available as part of our Enterprise option.
Can I combine ISO 14001 with 45001 and 9001?
Yes. If you need health & safety (45001) and quality (9001) as well, an integrated management system is more efficient and cheaper than three separate ones — from £9,500 combined. See our integrated management systems page.
